First Classroom Store

We had our first payday and shopping day this past week in 4th grade!  They learned things at the class store are a little more expensive than other stores, however, they've been earning lots of "Gabriel's".  Andrew took some pictures for you to enjoy!

Halfway through the first quarter!

It's amazing to me we are already about halfway through the first quarter of fourth grade! Everyone has been working so hard on their reading goals, book commercials, Everyday Math, and AMath goals.  This past week we had a special guest, Judge Bruns, who spoke to us about the Constitution.  He was even able to spin a basketball for us at the end of his presentation!

I wanted to remind you we have our first field trip coming up this Thursday! Both classes will be attending the Water Festival at Garfield Park in the morning. Please have your children to school on time that day as we will be leaving shortly after the morning assembly.  We will return back to school for lunch.

I'm ready for another great week of 4th grade!

Book Review - "Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventures: The Great Egyptian Grave Robbery"

We will have some book reviews from time to time posted on books that the 4th graders are reading.  Lauren finished reading "Flat Stanley's Worldwide Adventures: The Great Egyptian Grave Robbery" and wanted to share her thoughts on it.

My book was written by Sara Pennypacker and is in the mystery genre.

# of Stars:

Flat Stanley receives a letter from Egypt, so he travels there to investigate. There is a robbery that happen in the book.  Sir Hawara is a bad person who is trying to get skulls in the pyramid.

Lauren recommends this book to her friends because "it is a really good book and everyone who likes mysteries would like to read it".

We're off and running!

We have had a great first week of school!  In reading this week we have started hearing some book talks on some of Mrs. Gabriel's favorite books. However, soon it will be the 4th graders turn to do book talks!

On Wednesday our class worked with their teams to create shapes such as an ice-cream cone and an elephant. It was entertaining watching them decide how to create these shapes!

I am curious what the best book you have ever read is? What book could you not put down or stop listening to? It could be a book read to you as a little kid or one read recently.  Push on the comments button to leave your answer!  Parents, grandparents, 4th graders, and everyone else who crosses this blog please let us know!

Welcome!

I would like to welcome you all to 4th grade! I love teaching this grade and know we will have a great year.  The 4th graders this year will be using this blog to share about the books they are reading, giving some recommendations, and some will be writing to you about the events going on in our classroom.  Please check back often!  If you have any questions about the upcoming year please feel free to email me at hgabriel@usd345.com.

To all of the 4th graders out there, what have you been up to so far this summer?  I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks!
Mrs. Gabriel
